2013-2014 OFID Scholarship Award

OFID Scholarships Award 
OFID (The OPEC Fund for International Development) is pleased to announce that qualified applicants who have obtained or are on the verge of completing their undergraduate degree and who wish to study for a Master’s degree are welcome to apply for the OFID Scholarship 2013. The OFID Scholarship will be awarded to support students or candidates for Master’s degree studies. The applicant must be from a developing country, and he/she must first obtain admission to pursue a Master’s (graduate) degree in any recognized university/college in the world. The Scholarship is open to those students who wish to pursue studies in a relevant field of Development or Energy Studies.





Through its scholarship scheme, OFID aims to help highly motivated, highly-driven individuals overcome one of the biggest challenges to their careers – the cost of graduate studies. The winner of the OFID Scholarship Award will receive a tuition support of up to US$50,000. The funds will be spread over a maximum of one year, toward the completion of a Master’s degree, or its equivalent, at an accredited educational institution, starting in the autumn of the academic year 2013.

Application Guidelines

 STEP 1: Ensure that you fulfill the OFID Scholarship Award Eligibility Criteria.
 STEP 2: Register within the OFID Scholarship Portal by using your email address. Please note you can log onto the portal as many times as required before finally submitting the application.
 STEP 3: Fill out the application form. Make sure to save data each time you update your application. Once you are logged in, if the page remains inactive for more than two hours, your session will time-out and you may lose unsaved data. Do not submit your application until you have completed the entire application process!
 STEP 4: Upload necessary documents; CV, two recommendation letters, Bachelor’s certificate/transcript, acceptance letter into postgraduate program and essay.
 STEP 5: When your application is complete, and all additional documents are uploaded, your application is ready to be submitted. Once your application is submitted, you can no longer make any changes or upload any more documents.
The application deadline is May 1, 2013. Please do not call or email OFID to see if your application has been received or to inquire about your status. You will receive an automated confirmation one application has been submitted. Only the winners will be notified by June 13, 2013 via website .

Eligibility

  •  Must be between the ages of 23-32 at the time of submitting his/her application.
  •  Must have obtained or be on the verge of completing their undergraduate degree with a Baccalaureate from an accredited college/university, or its equivalent.
  •  Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 rating system, or its equivalent.
  • Must be matriculated at an accredited university for the upcoming academic year starting August/September 2013, and must maintain full-time status for the duration of the Master’s Degree.
  •  Must be a national of a developing country (except OFID Member Countries)
  •  Must select a subject of study that pertains to OFID’s core mission, such as: economics of development (poverty reduction, energy and sustainable development), environment (desertification), or other related science and technology fields.
PLEASE NOTE: Kindly read ALL of the directions below before proceeding with the application process:
  • Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information. Applications will be evaluated based on the information provided. Therefore, all questions should be answered as thoroughly as possible. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Once an application has been submitted, no changes will be allowed on it.
  • OFID will not consider applications received through a third party.
  • Please do not call or email OFID to ask if your application has been received, or to inquire about your status.
  • Please note that only the winner will be notified.
  • All materials submitted become the property of OFID and will not be returned to the applicant.
Applicants must complete the on-line application.
Within the on-line application, applicants must upload the required documents as listed below in Section III. All materials including the on-line application, recommendations, and other required information must be received no later than May 1, 2013.

Disbursement of the Scholarship Fund

The terms and conditions of payment will be determined in coordination with the student upon his/her selection in accordance with the following guidelines:
The tuition fees, including any supplementary examination fees, as may be required by the academic institution, will be paid by OFID directly to the academic institution. Health insurance will be paid in accordance with the institution’s own standard medical scheme.
A monthly allowance to cover living expenses, books and accommodation, will be transferred to the student’s own personal bank account on a quarterly basis.
Prior to the start of his/her first year studies, the student will be paid a relocation grant, equal to two-month allowance. OFID will also pay for travel costs from the nearest airport to the student’s place of residence, to the nearest airport to the chosen place of study. Upon completion of the studies, the student will be paid the cost of one-way air ticket to his/her home country.

  •  Curriculum Vitae (CV).

University of East Anglia offers school of international development scholarships. These scholarships are available for Japanese students to pursue postgraduate degree at University of East Anglia in UK. The selection criterions are Academic excellence and their personal statement. 

Scholarship Description: The level of competition for most of the awards mentioned here is extremely high and candidates are usually assessed on past, and potential, academic performance. If you will require a grant in order to undertake your studies, your application should be made as early in the year as possible. Applications received after March cannot be considered for most scholarships.

013 Mwalimu Nyerere Africa-India Scholarship for Africans

The 2013/2014 Mwalimu Nyerere African Union Scholarship Scheme (MNAUSS) invites applications from African student for Master’s and PhD scholarships tenable in reputable Indian universities starting from July 2013. The Scheme received support under the Africa-India strategic partnership for some special scholarships in the field of Agriculture for Africans working in African institutions of higher learning and research. The Africa-India Capacity Building Scholarship Programme comprises:
  • Capacity Building Master’s Degree Scholarship
  • Special University Lecturers PhD Fellowship Programme
          
Eligibility: To be eligible for the Africa-India Fellowship Programme, a candidate must:
  • Be a National/Citizen of an African Union Member State
  • Have good knowledge of English
  • Have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement as evidenced by academic transcripts
  • Have at least two (2) years post-graduation work experience
  • Be willing to commit to work in an African Union Member State on completion of study for at least three (3) years.
An applicant for Master’s Programme must meet the following minimum criteria:
  • Be under the age of thirty five (35) years
  • Be a holder of a four year Bachelor’s Degree in respective field of Agriculture, at least Upper Second Class Honours.
An applicant for PhD Programme must meet the following minimum criteria:
  • Be under the age of forty five (45) years
  • Be a holder of a high quality Master’s Degree in respective field of Agriculture.
Duration of Course
  • The Master’s programme is of two years whereas the Ph.D. is a three year programme
  • No fellowship will be provided for any extended period to complete the degree due to what-so-ever reason.
Worth of Scholarship (please read carefully)
  • 12,000 Indian Rupees per month (for the two-year Master’s programme)
  • 15,000 Indian Rupees per month (for the three-year doctoral programme)
  • All expenditure towards tuition fee, hostel fee, mess, medical, contingency and travel within country etc. during the course will be borne by the student utilizing the fellowship amount
  • The cost of air ticket and visa will be paid through the Indian Mission in the respective African Country.

Rotary Club/Jackson Scholarship This program is designed to assist deserving students who have potential as future leaders of Mississippi but who lack sufficient financial means to reach their goals.  Recipients may received up to $16,000, payable at up to $4,000 per year for four years.  Applicants must be graduating seniors who desire to continue their education at a Mississippi university or community college.  Applicants must have a B average or better and 18 or higher on the ACT.  The combined family income must not exceed $60,000 per year as determined by FAFSA. National Society of Accountants Scholarship for International Students in USA, 2013Description: This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship Management Services, a division of Scholarship America. Scholarship Management Services is the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin.



Eligibility:
Applicants to the National Society of Accountants Scholarship Program must be:
-Undergraduates enrolled part-time or full-time in accounting at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States.
-Students in an accredited two-year college may apply following first semester grades or during their second year if transferring to a four-year institution, provided they are committed to a major in accounting throughout the remainder of their college career, or
-Students in an accredited four-year college may apply for the scholarship for their second, third, or fourth year of studies, provided they are committed to a major in accounting throughout the remainder of their college career.
-Majoring in accounting.
-Maintaining a “B” (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) or better grade point average.
-A United States or Canadian citizen (permanent residents are not eligible).
-High School Seniors or students not yet enrolled in an undergraduate accounting program are NOT eligible to receive NSA Scholarship Foundation Awards.

How to Apply:
 Interested students must complete the fill-in application, print it out and mail it along with a current, complete transcript of grades to Scholarship Management Services postmarked no later than March 10, 2013. If previously enrolled in college or vocational-technical school, applicants must include all transcripts from each school attended. Grade reports are not acceptable. Online transcripts must display student name, school name, grade and credit hours earned for each course, and term in which each course was taken. Applicants will receive acknowledgment of receipt of their application. If an acknowledgment card is not received within three weeks, applicants may call Scholarship Management Services to verify that the application has been received.

Selection Criteria: Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship Management Services, must be demonstrated for students applying from Arizona only.

Madison-Ridgeland Rotary Club Scholarship

Madison Ridgeland Rotary Club Annual Scholarship
Any graduating senior continuing their education is eligible for this
scholarship.  It may be used toward any four-year, two-year or
vocational college of the student's choice.  This is $750 scholarship.
Rules for the essay:
1. The essay title is "The Importance of Being an Active Member in a
Community Service Club"
2. Essay should be no more than 750 words, typed, double-spaced and with page numbers on each page.
3. The cover should include student's name, address, phone number and name of school.  It should also list personal community activities
within the last two years.  A current resume may be substituted.
4.Please include two (2) copies of the essay and one (1) copy of the
cover page.
5. Essays must be received by the Madison-Ridgeland Rotary Club no later than April 1, 2013, by mail, or they may be emailed to the addressbelow no later than 5:00 p.m. the same day.
6. The winner will be notified by April 30, 2013, and will be expected
to attend a club meeting to read his/her essay to the Rotary Club.
